Skin cancer risks in winter

In this article, Dr Sharp speaks to the Queensland Times about the year-round skin cancer risk Queenslanders experience due to high UV rates.

“Queensland is known as the skin cancer capital of the world, and sadly more Queenslanders die from skin cancer than road crashes each year,” he said.

Each year more than 3,600 Queenslanders are diagnosed with the deadliest form of skin cancer, melanoma, and more than 350,000 non-melanoma skin cancers are treated.
