About our cosmetic and plastic surgery instruction videos for patients undergoing treatment with Brisbane based plastic surgeon Dr David Sharp

The above videos do not substitute face to face patient care. If you have any concerns or questions following surgery, please contact your postoperative nurse as a first point of call.

Dr Sharp’s patients receive their postoperative instructions both before surgery, and on the day of surgery, in digital and hardcopy formats for easy reference. If you have any questions or concerns after your surgery, the first step is to consult these instructions. If your question is not addressed by these instructions, call the clinic on 3202 4744. You may be asked to come into the clinic or send photos to assist us with your enquiry. If your concern arises after hours and cannot wait until the next business day, reach out to our clinical team via an SMS to the after hours number, listed on the final page of your post operative instructions.

Following postoperative instructions after cosmetic and plastic surgery is essential for ensuring a smooth recovery and achieving the best possible outcomes. These guidelines are carefully designed by Dr Sharp and your nursing team to minimise the risk of complications and support optimal healing.

Adhering to instructions such as taking prescribed medications, avoiding strenuous activities, and attending follow-up appointments is crucial. Medications help manage pain and prevent infections, while activity restrictions prevent undue stress on healing tissues, reducing the risk of complications like wound separation or excessive scarring.

Specific care instructions, such as how to clean and dress incisions, are also vital. Proper wound care helps prevent infections, promotes faster healing, and ensures that scars heal as inconspicuously as possible.

Neglecting postoperative guidelines can lead to complications such as infections, prolonged healing, and suboptimal aesthetic results. In severe cases, non-compliance may necessitate additional surgeries to correct issues.

This commitment to aftercare is just as important as the surgery itself in ensuring long-term satisfaction with your results.
