How to apply topical antibiotic ointment after plastic surgery

If you’re having facelift, blepharoplasty or facial lesion surgery, you will take home a topical antibiotic ointment after your procedure. This ointment helps to reduce the risk of wound infections and promotes healthy skin healing following plastic surgery.

Apply the ointment 2-3 times a day, using a clean finger or cotton tip.

Generally, patients having surgery on their breasts or body are not required to use the ointment, nor are patients who have tapes over their incision lines following surgery.

If you have any questions about applying your ointment, refer to your post op instructions or contact your post op nurse on 3202 4744.
