You may have some lumps, swelling, small bruises and redness immediately after the procedure.Can multiple areas be done at the same time?Multiple treatment areas can be treated at the same time.Can numbing cream be applied?Patients can opt to have numbing cream applied.Are the treatments safe? What are the risks?Like all TGA regulated treatments, this modality carries risks. These risks should be carefully considered before undertaking treatment. These are discussed in advance of any treatment.The treatment should not be undertaken by people that are allergic to any ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Safety has not been established in patients who are pregnant, lactating, breastfeeding, or under 18 years of age.In addition to broader precautions, this treatment carries specific requirements and should only be used by a trained healthcare practitioner. For example, if accidentally injected into the blood vessels, it may cause vascular occlusion, infarction or embolic phenomena. Use at the site of skin sores, cysts, pimples, rashes, hives or infection should be postponed until healing is complete. Contour deficiencies should not be overcorrected because they are expected to gradually improve after treatment.In some cases more serious adverse events have been reported. These reported reactions include papules/nodules/lumps, swelling, granuloma (inflammation of tissue forming a lump), symptoms of visual disturbance, infection/abscess, mass/induration, numbness and facial nerve paralysis, redness, inflammation, bruising/haematoma, skin discolouration, scarring, skin atrophy (reduction in skin tissue) or skin hypertrophy (increase in skin tissue), allergic reaction, rash, muscle disorders and ischaemia necrosis.Contraindications and considerationsThere are some medicines that can interfere with the way the product works, therefore it is important to tell your treating cosmetic practitioner about all the medicines you are taking, including any that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket, or health food shop.This list is not exhaustive and all patients must undertake an informed consent before undergoing the treatment.What should I do prior to treatment?Avoid taking aspirin, NSAIDS, anticoagulant drugs, Gingo Biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E and any other essential fatty acids in the week before the treatment. This helps to reduce bruising.On the day of your treatment do not use make up, lotions, creams, serums, self-tanners or any other products on the areas to be treated.Do not use wax, bleach, use depilatory creams or have electrolysis for 4 weeks prior to treatment.Avoid chemicals peels, facials, laser and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks prior to treatment of the same area.Avoid unprotected natural and artificial sun exposure of the area for 2 weeks for best results. A broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is recommended. Are maintenance treatments recommended?Yes, as the product is not permanent, to maintain your results we recommend booking a maintenance treatment every 2 years. Re-treating within this time frame has a cumulative anti-ageing effect, effectively providing ongoing support for your skin to fight the signs of skin ageing. Contact our friendly patient support team.CONTACT USBIOSTIMULATING TREATMENTS: AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONSTo ensure you achieve optimal results it is important you adhere to the following aftercare advice:• Massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days after your treatment, according to your clinician’s advice• Use moisturising cream to reduce friction when massaging• Within the first 24 hours after your treatment, apply an ice pack wrapped in a cloth to the treatment area to help reduce swelling• Makeup may be applied after 24 hours • Avoid excessive sun and excessive temperatures until initial swelling and redness have resolved• Avoid heavy exercise and saunas/steam rooms for 24 hours• Avoid any other cosmetic procedures in the treated area until the skin has healed completely• If you feel unwell, or are concerned about any aspect of your treatment, contact The Sharp Clinics.
