When planning your breast surgery, it is important to select a qualified specialist plastic surgeon that frequently performs the procedure, using best practice safety measures and high quality implants that carry long term warranty provisions. As the best surgeon patient relationship is one that provides support long after your recovery is completed, it is also important to understand the ethos that underpins patient care in your clinic of choice.
Dr Sharp is a Queensland-trained Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon, having obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons after undertaking eight years of specialised training. He has completed over 25,000 surgical procedures during his career.
The decision to have treatment or surgery with a plastic surgeon is never made lightly, and involves significant research, time and preparation.
While essential surgical skills and qualifications are highly important, the experience of having any treatment is certainly measured by more than just the time spent in the operating theatre or clinic chair.
From your first consultation to your last follow-up, the staff at our Brisbane plastic and cosmetic surgery clinic will aim to support you with quality care and genuine compassion.

Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and the force of gravity create changes in a woman’s breast. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often change shape, and lose volume.
A breast lift mastopexy cannot increase the size of your breasts or add volume to the top, and a breast augmentation mammoplasty cannot sufficiently address skin laxity on the breasts. If the aim of the surgery is to raise the breast and increase volume, a breast augmentation mammoplasty and lift mastopexy procedure can be performed in conjunction.
Feel confident in your choices, supported by gold standard surgical care
It’s normal to feel both nervous, and an excited sense of anticipation, when planning your breast augmentation mammoplasty and lift mastopexy surgery. Dr Sharp will take the time to ensure you have as many consultations as you require, and will design your treatment plan to suit your body and individual expectations – and address any concerns you may have. Importantly, all breast augmentation mammoplasty consultations are conducted by Dr Sharp himself - not by a nurse or other healthcare professional in our clinics.
A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is designed to remove excess skin on the breasts and tighten the underlying tissue to make the breast sit higher on the patient’s chest. Each patient’s natural anatomy and aesthetic preferences are taken into consideration during the consultation, planning and surgery itself.
For women with breast ptosis - whereby the nipple sits below the inframammary fold, or points down - a mastopexy will also raises the position of the nipples.
The internal breast tissue is usually addressed as well. Sometimes the areola (the darker skin around the nipple) becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift mastopexy can reduce this if the patient desires.
Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that Dr Sharp frequently performs, using implants – sometimes, alongside fat grafting (autologous fat transplantation) – to enlarge the patient’s breasts.
The procedure involves implants - usually silicone - being inserted beneath the breast muscle, or sometimes, above the muscle. The objective of this procedure is to increase the size of your breasts, essentially adding volume. Breast augmentation and lift can be performed as a single or two-stage procedure, depending on the patient’s natural anatomy and skin condition. This is discussed, with the pros and cons weighed, in consultation with the surgeon.
